    The hardest thing is electrical wiring, any competent mechanic can swap out the engine and d- train

    Oh ok, in that case I'll do some more research into the wiring then. I imagined it wasn't a direct swap in terms of the wiring harness that is.

    Now is it the best option to go with a 2004 WRX engine? I've heard of this GC8 drivetrain conversion but I also understand that it can't be tuned...

    Isnt there a thread on all of this already?

    You cant tune the stock gc8. Aftermarket options are available. If you can afford the newer model powertrain, save yourself headache and just buy a stock wrx...

    hmm, i'm running a My97 twin turbo legacy engine for a while now, no cel's.
    happened to change drivetrain over the years from damaging everything, axles,gearbox to diff.
    dccd 5 speed box and 2003 wrx visc lsd 4.44 diff.
