AWD motorsport does not have the LSD oil, I was forced to go against my own advice, I used the Amsoil, which I bought from AWD, in a fully rebuilt differential, with new oem LSD, jury still out. I would change to the Subaru LSD oil in a flash if i could get it.

Recently I was asking about this same thing... It so happens than from research, and gearboxes on the whole..

GL5 oils aren't the best thing from yellow metal / syncros.. GL4 oils are better on syncros, however GL4 oils are to be changed more frequently than GL5 oils.. However Subaru S oil is a GL5 oil, so thats the "debate" .. Amsoil Severe gear is a GL5 oil, which is good for the diff, or so research tells me.

When I purchased my vehicle it came with a gear oil unknown to me, so I decided to change it. When draining my gearbox I noticed the oil to carry the same colour as that of the Subaru S oil / Amsoil *golden in colour*

However I decided to use (what i've read a few people to use and received no issues, which is the redline oil)

I would have used the regular MT oil from redline (75-90) but I would have introduced a lightweight shockproof oil into the mix also.

I changed it about 3 weeks ago and I have no issues, soon I may change it again in order to try something else though.
