    the avcs filter removal is the same for all models. u'll definitely have to take off green shields, on wrx/sti it is a whole piece, and not halves like mine.
    intake piping may also have to be removed. foresters so equipped will have to do the same.

    I realize this is and old post but very good info. Well today I changed my entire oil feed line to braided ones and noticed there were filters on the avcs bong and the oil feed bong off the block. They looked undamaged and I cleaned. I installed the braided lines with the filters still inside the bolt . Reading this I should have taken them off. Sigh
